ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPE.
Bachhuber Contract is responsible for the complete interior design and furnishing of the 190 rooms and suites at the 19-storey Steigenberger Hotel Alsik in Sønderborg, Denmark, which recently opened.
The location of the hotel building on the Als Fjord, designed by star architect Frank Gehry and Henning Larsen Architects, and the hotel’s special architectural language had a strong influence on the design.
In the public areas, the design created by Bachhuber takes up the various building lines and creates an asymmetrical, linear design language.
“The first sketches were reminiscent of an architectural landscape model,” says the company.
The hotel is operated by the RIMC Hotels & Resorts Group.
When planning the rooms, the jumping facade of the architecture and the upward taper of the entire building presented a major challenge.
This resulted in a total of 39 room types, divided into three different categories, often with non-rectangular room layouts.
There will be over 60 wellness, recreation and relaxation offers.
The spa aims to impress with its modern Scandinavian design.
The focus is on natural materials and lots of light.
The spa area, which covers more than 4,500 square meters, extends over four floors.
From the spa café, guests have a direct view of the city harbor.
The guiding principle of the Bachhuber design in the spa is an ice floe landscape.
